Siquijor as a vacation destination is still far off from most people’s minds. That’s because this little island has a bad reputation of being populated by witches and fairies, and is home to spooky places. But give it some diligent research and you will be surprised to discover what Siquijor can really offer you besides its supernatural mysteries.
The first thing you would want to check is where to stay on the island. You’ll be delighted to learn that Siquijor actually has quite some fantastic places to stay and enjoy various activities, especially diving and island hopping.

Wide range of accommodations
You can choose from any of the hotel rooms at the Casa Coco, Royal Orchid, Coco Villa, or cottage (duplex or solo) located in various areas in the vicinity. Rooms and cottages have their own amenities to suit any visitor’s need. You’ll be happy to know that family cottages can accommodate up to 4 people, with room to spare for extra guests (with an additional charge for extra bed). Family rooms are normally two-level, with one queen size on the ground floor and two twin beds on the upper level, plus two bathrooms on the ground floor. Cottages have quaint rustic themes and colors. All accommodations are air-conditioned and equipped with cable TV, minibar, hot and cold shower, and even a backup generator.
Easy Access from Dumaguete
If from Manila or other provinces, you just go to Dumaguete City and book a ferry to Siquijor. Rates vary depending on the size and type of boat you take. When you book an accommodation at Coco Grove, the resort can arrange to have you picked up from Sibulan Airport in Dumaguete and brought to the pier where you can take a ferry to the island. Preferably, you should take the Coco Princess which brings you directly to the resort’s beachfront. However, Coco Princess operates only on specific days of the week, so be sure to check its schedule first. All the Amenities You Need in a Huge Complex
Staying at Coco Grove is like being in a whole community. There are various cottages, several restaurants, a bar, a gym, a massage center, a souvenir shop, several huge swimming pools, a kiddie pool, and even a natural spring. Right along the shore are the dive shops and water sports center where you can arrange for diving, snorkeling, sailing, and other water activities.
Countless Activities to Choose from
At Siquijor’s Coco Grove Beach Resort, you can make arrangements with the resort staff to rent a van or scooter if you wish to go on local tours in town to visit landmarks, or at the water sports center if you want to rent for boats to go kayaking, sailing, speed boating, island-hopping, and much more. If you want to keep physically fit, avail of the gym or go swimming in any of the three large pools. Sports buffs can play volleyball or table tennis.
The less adventurous can try more relaxing activities such as darts, billiards, board games, birdwatching, exploring the resort’s flora-rich landscape, or merely hanging out at the bar.
The resort hosts special activities during holidays, like fiestas, Easter egg hunts, barbecue cookouts, and cultural shows.

We were treated with a sumptuous dinner by the beach. The hotel staffs also prepared a song dance number to welcome us. We were also pleasantly surprised that our driver during the tour was one of the fire dancers who performed during that night.
