The city of Makati has often been touted as a staycationer’s haven, but did you know that there are also numerous hotels in Quezon City which are just as fantastic?  Not only are they wonderful places to have your R & R, but many of these hotels in Quezon City are more affordable than Makati-based ones.  There are expensive as well as cheap hotels in Quezon City, each of them with unique ambiences, all of them great, and the choice is yours!

Here are some other things that give you good reasons to have a staycation in Quezon City.  The city has wide-open spaces of fresh air, trees, water formations, and wildlife compared to other cities.  At the Quezon Memorial Circle, you can go jogging or shop for beautiful plants and seedlings.  Your family will love the Wildlife Park where you can go fishing, picnicking, or bird-watching.  The University of the Philippines is not just for academes but is also a huge complex perfect for jogging and leisurely walks.  The La Mesa Ecopark has facilities for wall-climbing, swimming, and team building activities. Trinoma, SM North EDSA, Fisher Mall, Eastwood, and Gateway provide entertainment, shopping, concerts, athletic events, and gastronomic delights. Maginhawa Street, Timog Avenue, Banawe Street, and Tomas Morato Avenue have become hotspots for food tripping and bar-hopping, all at a fraction of the price you’d have to pay at similar establishments in Makati.

So which are the best hotels in Quezon City?  Here are some highly recommended ones (not in any order).

Novotel Manila Araneta Center

This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the Araneta entertainment and shopping complex.  The Araneta Coliseum, where you can watch concerts, boxing matches or basketball games, is just a block away.  You can take your pick from rooms or suites, either single or double beds.  Food Exchange Manila and Premier Lounge serve international fare.  You can lounge at the rooftop pool area or bar, or enjoy nouvelle organic Filipino cuisine at Gourmet Bar.

Luxent Hotel

Timog is a great place to dine and enjoy drinks. Why not stay close to the dining hub? Of the hotels in Timog Quezon City, here’s one which can provide you with value for your buck. It has practically all of the amenities you’d expect in a five-star hotel, like a mini-bar, refrigerator, in-room safe, coffee maker, hair dryer, flatscreen TV, DVD player, complimentary daily newspapers, and free cable and WiFi.

Cocoon Boutique Hotel

For those who prefer hotels with swimming pools in Quezon City, here’s one that combines resort-like staycationing with gastronomic pleasure.  Located within the South Triangle area noted for two major television networks, Cocoon is also a stone’s throw away from Timog Avenue and only two blocks from Tomas Morato Avenue, which are both famous for their restaurants, cafes, and bars.  Enjoy a massage or scrub at the hotel’s spa, or take a dip at the adult pool with 60 light shows and hydrojets. You can still maintain your fitness routine by using the equipment at the exercise room.

B Hotel Quezon City

B is for Bellevue, a prestigious group of hotels in Manila and down south. This is another one of the hotels in Quezon City with swimming pools. The hotel has room amenities typical of 5-star accommodations.  It is also conveniently located in a very quiet neighborhood one block away from Timog Avenue, still an easy walk to the dining and entertainment places. If you have a week to spare, book 7 nights and get the 7th night for only a peso!

Meranti Hotel

If you’re scouting for cheap hotels in Quezon City, here’s one you might consider. Meranti is a 4-star luxury hotel that provides you with a homey but luxurious atmosphere.  It is the first hotel put up by the iconic Max’s Restaurant, best known for its uniquely cooked “sarap to the bones” fried chicken and other Filipino fare. By the way, Max’s is right in the vicinity.  But the hotel also has its own in-house restaurant, Maple, which has become famous for its pancakes and fusion cuisine.

Sulo Riviera Hotel

This is actually one of the landmark hotels of Quezon City, located at a block behind East Avenue, the hub of government offices such as SSS, LTO, and BIR.  But don’t let that give you the impression that Sulo has a less-than-ideal location.  Actually, the hotel is located on a fairly quiet residential neighborhood.  You’ll be delighted to know that it houses two restaurants and two bars (lobby and poolside).  Food prices are quite reasonably considering that it is a luxury hotel.  And the hotel is conveniently situated near the Quezon Memorial Circle where you can go jogging or enjoy the fresh air. With a short tricycle or jeep ride, you can access yet another fantastic food tripper’s paradise, Maginhawa Street, where you can feast on exotic cuisine or comfort food, mostly at prices affordable even for students.

Eastwood Richmonde Hotel

Located right in a major technohub of the metro, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel offers world-class hotel facilities that spell comfort and luxury.  The area around Eastwood Richmonde is chock-full of dining places, bars, and specialty shops.  There is a large courtyard where people can walk their pets, and the mall area welcomes pets as long as they are housebroken.  (Unfortunately, the hotel does not accommodate guests with pets.)  The hotel has four restaurants, an outdoor pool, and a spa. The area is a perfect place to complete your 10,000 step daily walking routine.  You can easily cross over the three malls in the area – Eastwood Mall, Citywalk, and Cybermall.  And if you want to go farther, the place is only a short walk to C-5 where you can commute to Cubao or Makati.

Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria

If you love great food and have a big budget for it, you can spend your staycation at this place, conveniently located just at the border between Quezon City, San Juan, and Pasig along Ortigas Avenue.  The hotel houses two notable restaurants, the Seven Corners which serves sumptuous international buffets, and Xin Tian Di which is known for its delectable authentic Chinese fare.  Fitness buffs will not have to miss their daily workouts as the hotel’s gym has complete facilities including treadmills, steppers, elliptical machines, and free weights.  For ultimate relaxation and wellness, try the spa’s treatments and massage services.  The hotel has easy access to four major malls – Robinson’s Galleria, SM Megamall, Shangrila Plaza, and Greenhills Shopping Center. For a short walk, you can visit the historic EDSA Shrine, where the world’s first and only People Power revolution took place.
